The US actress Amber Heard has reached an agreement with the Hollywood star in the legal dispute over allegations of defamation by her ex-husband Johnny Depp and is waiving an appeal process.
You made the "very difficult decision" to settle the process, Heard wrote on Monday on the online platform Instagram.
The 36-year-old explained that she had "lost confidence in the American legal system" and did not have the strength for another process.
In June, a Virginia jury sentenced Heard to pay the Pirates of the Caribbean star more than $10 million in damages for defamation.
Depp was only sentenced to pay two million dollars in damages to the actress known for films such as "Aquaman" and "The Danish Girl".
Heard appealed the verdict.
Depp sued Heard, to whom he was married between 2015 and 2017, for $50 million in damages.
The reason was a post by Heard for the Washington Post from 2018, in which the actress described herself as a victim of domestic violence.
Heard did not name her ex-husband;
However, Depp argued that the allegation was clearly aimed at him and had seriously damaged his career.
Heard responded with a counterclaim against the 59-year-old.
The actress did not give details of the agreement reached on Monday.
