Complaint of Bercy against Apple: the judgment rendered this Monday

Bercy, who filed a complaint against Apple in 2018, will hear the judgment on Monday.

The Ministry of the Economy criticized the American firm for imposing tariffs on French start-ups which wish to sell their applications on their platforms, but also to recover their data.

The Paris Commercial Court must render its judgment in a case between Apple and the Ministry of the Economy.

Bercy had filed a complaint against the American firm 4 years ago.

This is not the first time in recent months that the digital giants have gone to checkout in France.

At the beginning of the month, it was the fraud department which imposed a fine of 3.3 million euros on Amazon.

The online sales platform was accused of illegal practices.

The Apple case dates back to 2018. At the time, the Ministry of the Economy filed a complaint against the Apple brand and against Google because it accused them of imposing tariffs on French start-ups wishing to sell their applications. on their platforms, but also to recover their data.

Complaints and tax, Bercy fires all wood

Google was ordered by the Paris Commercial Court to pay 2 million euros last March.

Apple, known to have an army of lawyers, played the watch.

And it is only today that the judgment must be rendered.

A new fine would illustrate the stricter behavior of the Ministry of the Economy with the digital giants, behavior also symbolized by the GAFA tax.

This should bring in nearly 600 million euros in 2022.
