Hama-Sana
The areas cultivated with wheat and barley crops within the lands under the supervision of the Directorate of Agriculture of Hama, since the beginning of the cultivation operations to date, amounted to 73 thousand and 21 hectares in the rainfed and irrigated lands.
Dr. Sattam Khalil, Assistant Director of Agriculture, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that 11,050 hectares of wheat were cultivated, compared to 62,071 hectares of barley, indicating that the two crops are grown in most of the agricultural departments and sections of the directorate, especially in the areas of Salamiyah, Masyaf, Maharda, Hamra, and Suran.
The plan of the Directorate of Agriculture in Hama for the current season includes the cultivation of an area of 24,921 hectares of irrigated wheat and 7,545 hectares of rain-fed, compared to the cultivation of 8,977 hectares of irrigated barley and 116,875 hectares of rain-fed.
