“Happy Nights” is the title of the Christmas evening, which was lit by the Good Shepherd’s choir with the sounds of its flowers, youth, and choirs, and was carried by hopes for the return of the Syrians’ happy nights, and that their days remain filled with the joy and joy of Christmas.

The evening, which was hosted this evening by Dar Al-Assad for Culture in Lattakia, during which the polyphonic choir celebrated the Syrian heritage and the traditional songs of the people of Lattakia, whose melodies they used to watch to bring back their memories to the large audience that filled the hall with the songs “Yam Safra” and “Ya Mahalla Al-Fassah” and “Ali Rawd Al-Habib” and “They were, my love.”

The choir, with its adult and youth choirs, and flowers, transported the audience in the second part of the evening to the Christmas atmosphere with Christmas songs and hymns.

The supervisor of the evening and the conductor of the choir, Maestro Elias Semaan Bean, told SANA reporter that the evening was titled “Happy Nights” to celebrate with our audience in Latakia the advent of Christmas, and the choir’s victory in the first national competition for Syrian choirs, and let us bring back, through heritage songs in Latakia, some of the warmth of this Nights, and their memories with the hope that this night of ours is a good night and promises good nights for our country.

Semaan noted that the choir used to present a birthday concert since 2015, to become a fixed date that is repeated every year, indicating that today's evening included more than 240 members of the choir of different ages.

Semaan expressed his happiness with the support that choirs enjoy in Syria through the Choirs Forum and turning it into a competition, noting the importance of participating in it over two years, which constituted a motivation and an opportunity to see the performance of the rest of the choirs and to develop the performance of the choir and win the first place.

The Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of the Diocese of Lattakia and its dependencies, Athanasius Fahd, affirmed that Christmas in Syria is distinguished by the message of peace, joy and love it embodies for the Syrians.

He valued the Archdiocese's choir winning the first place in the first national competition for choirs, which constitutes the biggest message sent by these young people that no matter how severe the circumstances are, they will continue to seek life and serve the country.

Director of Lattakia Culture, Majd Sarim, praised the effort, fatigue and continuous creativity that the choir and those in charge of it have perpetuated through its active presence in the cultural life and its permanent presence on the stage of Dar Al-Assad in Lattakia to sow love and joy in the hearts of its audience.

The Good Shepherd Choir of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Lattakia was established in 1996 and includes more than 250 members who fall into four categories: children, youth, adults, and flowers for children under seven years.
