Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Hossein Abdullahian said that Tehran is ready to hold a meeting at the level of defense and foreign ministers of neighboring and Gulf countries.
Abdullahian added during the "Tehran Dialogue Forum" that Iran welcomes the rebuilding of trust and constructive cooperation with neighboring countries, especially the Gulf countries.
He pointed out that Iran is ready to resume relations with Saudi Arabia and reopen the embassies of the two countries if Riyadh is ready for that, adding that Riyadh must take the decision to pursue a constructive policy with Tehran, he said.
The Iranian news agency had reported that the Iranian foreign minister would travel today, Monday, to the Jordanian capital, Amman, to participate in the second regional summit of Iraq's neighboring countries, which will be held on December 20 in Jordan.
The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon has already hinted that the summit is likely to witness a bilateral meeting between representatives of Iran and Saudi Arabia, and be a starting point for the return of bilateral talks, as he put it.
Nuclear file
With regard to the nuclear file, Abdullahian indicated that his country is ready to reach the nuclear agreement if Washington intends to reach it in a "practical and real way."
Regarding the Ukrainian issue, Abdollahian said that his country's policy is based on resolving the conflict through dialogue and political methods, rejecting the use of force and the need to take into account the legitimate security concerns of both sides, stressing that his country's accusation of handing over drones to Russia is unfounded, and that the West seeks to justify its support for the war with accusations.
Amir Abdollahian also congratulated Qatar for the great success in organizing the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and thanked Doha for the hospitality of the Iranian national football team.
