.: The Internet is currently massively disrupted in Iran.

Users in Tehran reported extremely slow connections.

While Iranian websites were accessible, international .com domains seemed to be blocked.

Some users expressed concern that Iran's access to the global network could now be permanently blocked after the protests.

The parliament of the Islamic Republic has been discussing corresponding plans for a national network for years.

Meanwhile, Tehran again sharpened the tone against Germany.

The arch-conservative politician and Brigadier General Esmaeil Kusari called for a reconsideration of relations with countries such as England, France and Germany, as reported by the Fars news agency.

"Europeans should know that they are dealing with a powerful Iran and we do not need relations with them at all costs," Kusari said.

Last Monday (December 12), the EU again imposed sanctions on Iran.

Executions in Iran: dead and injured in prison violence

Update from December 18, 9:22 p.m .:

According to activists, one prisoner was killed and 17 others injured in an outbreak of violence in a prison in northern Iran due to a planned execution.

The confrontations at the Karaj detention center broke out on Saturday when prisoners protested against the transfer of an inmate to solitary confinement before his execution, the Iran Human Rights organization (IHR) said on Sunday.

The victim died from a shot in the head.

However, the Iranian authorities said that one detainee died after a conflict between inmates.

The Chief Justice of Albors Province said the riots began in the section where prisoners are serving sentences for drug-related offences.

Prisoners had set bed covers on fire.

Since then, however, calm has returned.

It is the third major incident in an Iranian prison since the wave of protests began in the country.

The demonstrations were triggered by the death of the young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini in September in custody of the vice squad.

Karaj is an important center of the protests.

Tehran - The well-known Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti was arrested in connection with the Iran protests on Saturday evening (December 17).

This usually carries a long prison sentence.

Alidoosti had repeatedly claimed responsibility for the protest movement triggered by the death of the young Kurd Mahsa Amini.

She also recently denounced the execution of the young demonstrator Mohsen Shekari.
