Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the Russian military operation in Ukraine was an inevitable result of the West's years-long attempts to turn Ukraine into an anti-Russian state, and to exclude Russia from its role in international affairs.
Russia Today channel website quoted Lavrov as saying: “The way the Westerners and the American team deal with them hysterically confirms the feasibility of the Russian military operation, and reinforces the importance of our military operation to thwart plans to turn Ukraine into a permanent threat to Russia’s security.”
Lavrov indicated that attempts to isolate Russia are futile and will not be achieved, and said: “We will proceed from that in formulating our foreign policy approach, relying on partners who have proven that they have the ability to negotiate and abide by their word.”
