Meeting the pop star: Sarah Connor, fully stable

2022-12-19T12:16:39.070Z

From pop star of the noughties to singer-songwriter with important messages: Sarah Connor has constantly evolved in her twenty-year career - and always shown her composure. A meeting in Berlin.

It's probably not the first interview that Sarah Connor gives on a lake in Berlin.

In 2015, a reporter from "Stern" had an appointment with her, but he was then allowed to go to her home: Storm.

The FAZ isn't that lucky with the weather today, the sky is a bright blue, the lake shimmers promisingly, and the trees in their magnificent autumn robes mock the reporters' dreams of cozy meetings in celebrity villas.

The weather is so bombastic, and Sarah Connor does not invite to her home.

She is leaning back, in a bright red, fluffy sweater and with a cigarette in her hand, on the terrace of the fisherman's hut, and is talking so intensely to a journalist that you don't want to interrupt.

Looks up, greets briefly, smiles.

A few minutes later she turns around, now the F.

AZ on it.

"It's cool that you are!

I was hoping that another woman would come!”

Johanna Dürrholz

Editor in the “Germany and the World” department.

Originally there was a plan to go for an autumn walk, maybe leave the management and record company observers behind, talk in private.

But the coffee tastes so good right now, and Sarah Connor finds it more relaxing to sit and talk a little longer.

She still has to think about what she just discussed with the other journalist: It was about whether she would break up so easily again, she says.

Divorce at 28, is that easy?

"Not quite, breaking up with kids is never easy.

I had my first two children very young.” As a result, in her twenties she often felt like she was missing out.

Her friends were studying and moving into shared flats in other cities.

"And I had two kids by the time I was 25.

You strap it on and that's fine.

But going out every night wasn't possible.

Then why did she break up with Marc Terenzi, with whom she even did a reality series in which they got married?

"I was far too young for such a serious life with a partner I wasn't happy with." She left, she was financially independent.

"I want my daughters to learn that women are not forced to remain in unhappy relationships and traditional roles if they can take care of themselves." That sums up Sarah Connor's style well: In a subordinate clause, the forty-two-year-old leaves a sharp one socio-political observation.

Only to laugh out loud again the next moment because she is asked: "Shall we talk about the music first?" - "Good idea!"

Her Santa red sweater matches her new album: a Christmas album, Not So Silent Night.

The songs have turned out to be trendy, in English, happy.

"When I think of Christmas, the first things that come to mind aren't 'Ave Maria' or 'Silent Night'." In a year of crises, she longed for lightness, warmth and fun.

With some friends, songwriters, producers, including Nico Santos, Sarah Connor flew to Santorini, where they wrote and produced the 13 songs for the album: "Smoking, drinking, being a little excessive and then back to the studio, sometimes at three o'clock in the morning and continue again."
