It seems that Microsoft is considering the possibility of offering a cheaper route of the Game Pass service that will include advertisements.

According to a report by the Windows Central website, a survey conducted among Xbox players and leaked to the network on the ResetEra forums, showed that Microsoft is considering a discounted and new route that will offer several restrictions.

The new route will supposedly cost about 3 dollars per month and will offer access to the Xbox online services and the EA Play game library.

Exclusive and new Xbox titles will be available with a delay of about six months, and not on the day of launch itself.

Of course, the line that catches the eye the most in the survey is the integration of advertisements in the service, although it is not specified how they will be integrated.

Although the launch of the Game Pass service is a step that has paid off for Microsoft in the long run.

Among PC players, the service is welcomed and appreciated, but Xbox CEO Phil Spencer still admitted that they are experiencing a slowdown in the rate of new console users.

Even if the new route does not come to fruition, it shows us that Microsoft is exploring new options with the service in order to become more attractive to customers.

According to the data released by Microsoft, more than 25 million players subscribe to the Game Pass service (as of January 2022).

Microsoft is currently waiting for the Activision-Blizzard-King acquisition to be approved by regulators around the world.

Countries that have already approved the purchase are Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Serbia.

The US Federal Trade Commission has decided to file an antitrust lawsuit over the acquisition for fear of harming competition, a lawsuit that Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard executives have stated they will fight in court. The European Commission and the UK Competition Authority have also entered deeper stages of investigation.
