The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, announced that next year the ministry will put up a large screen linked to the ministry on which prices will be displayed, and create a division for it in the al-Hal market in Damascus, working in cooperation with the Market Committee to control daily pricing and prevent manipulation by the weak-minded.
During a meeting with members of the Al-Hal Market Committee, in the presence of Wassim Qattan, Secretary of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the Joint Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Minister Salem listened to the difficulties and problems facing Al-Hal Market merchants, including the issue of the commercial registry, amending Decree 8, fake invoices and pricing.
Dr. Salem confirmed that work is continuing on amending Decree 8, especially the differentiation between serious and non-serious violations in order to abolish the prison sentence for small violations and tighten it for serious violations, indicating that the directives are permanent to monitor the follow-up of major violating traders, especially that there is information about violating traders who They raise prices contrary to what they claim, and they were violated, and the judicial investigations were organized against them.
Minister Salem explained that what matters to the ministry is the availability and flow of commodities in the markets and pricing based on the real cost, and as for vegetables and fruits, they are perishable materials and enter the cardamom market throughout the day, and there are rapid changes for them, so pricing must be daily based on real costs.
