The freezing rain that fell on Seine-Maritime this weekend made the roads particularly slippery.
The phenomenon has been the cause of an upsurge in road accidents.
This Sunday, the firefighters of the barracks of the department went out to intervene in no less than 17 different accidents, reports
Ouest-France
.
A total of 28 people were involved.
Rescuers reported "eight minor injuries" among them but no one seriously affected.
One of the victims is a 50-year-old woman who was hit by a bus in Rouen (Seine-Maritime).
The ice was also the cause of several major pile-ups on the expressways.
The Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) thus reported an accident in which 12 cars collided on the A29 motorway.
Another pileup saw eight vehicles crash into the A13.
