After two consecutive years of no overnight service on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, services will resume this year, including all local railway lines (excluding Airport Express and Disney Line), and 7 light rail lines, so that citizens can go out to celebrate the festive season. Enhanced services for local lines from 8:00 a.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
The MTR announced that as the government further relaxes the epidemic prevention measures, all MTR local railway lines (excluding the Airport Express and Disney Line), and 7 light rail routes, including 505, 507, 610, 614P, 615P, 706, 75, will run overnight on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Among them, the Hong Kong Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line and East Rail Line will strengthen their services from 8:00 a.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. MTR buses 506, K51 and K54 will extend their service hours.
On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve in 2020 and 2021, MTR will not provide overnight services due to the epidemic; the last time was Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve in 2019.

Except for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, all local railway lines of MTR (excluding Airport Express and Disney Line) will also start to strengthen services this Thursday (22nd), that is, the afternoon of the winter solstice.
From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Tsuen Wan Line runs every 2 minutes, the Hong Kong Island Line runs every 2.1 minutes, and the Kwun Tong Line from Tiu Keng Leng to Ho Man Tin runs every 2.3 minutes.
During the Christmas and New Year period, children can enjoy free rides on the Airport Express
In addition, passengers traveling outside Hong Kong can enjoy the Airport Express Octopus discount during the Christmas and New Year promotion period. Children are free of fare, and seniors aged 65 or above can take the Airport Express at half price.

The MTR also pointed out that in order to add to the festive atmosphere, it will carefully decorate the "East Rail Line • Fun Art" train to provide Christmas check-in hotspots; Appears at different stations from time to time.
