China News Service, December 19. According to the Korean Central News Agency, the North Korean National Space Development Agency conducted an important test in the final stage of developing a reconnaissance satellite at the Sohae Satellite Launch Site on the 18th.
A spokesman for North Korea's National Aerospace Development Agency said the basic purpose of the important test was to evaluate the capabilities of the satellite photography and data transmission system and the ground control system.
According to reports, the test is to install a 20-meter-resolution test panchromatic camera, two multi-spectrum cameras, image transmitters, transceivers of various bands, control devices and batteries in a satellite test product, and put its equipped After the carrier is launched to an altitude of 500 kilometers at a high angle, in the most suitable environment for simulating the space environment, confirm the reliability of ground control such as photographic manipulation commands and attitude control commands for various photographic equipment, and evaluate the processing capability and safety of the data transmission device in a sexual manner.
According to the report, important technical indicators such as camera operation technology under space environmental conditions, data processing and transmission capabilities of communication devices, and tracking and manipulation accuracy of ground control systems have been confirmed through tests.
The North Korean National Aerospace Development Agency stated that this means that it has passed the final closing process of launching a reconnaissance satellite, which is an important achievement.
By April 2023, preparations for the first military reconnaissance satellite will be completed.
