Now Mälartåg is replacing the removed trains with buses - the traveler: "Very bad information"

On December 11, Mälartåg introduced a new timetable which meant fewer train departures. Now more buses will go to replace the trains.

"The national shortage of train drivers affects our ability to run all the traffic we planned in 2023. Therefore, we are adjusting the timetable for next year."

That is the explanation that Mälartåg gives for the fact that the new timetable, which started on 11 December, means fewer train departures.

As early as December 12, Mälartåg introduced some replacement buses to cover for the removed trains.

And now even more buses are deployed.

Bus departures are not signposted

Mälartåg announces, however, that the buses are not displayed on or outside the stations due to heavy workload due to the Swedish Transport Administration's change of planning system.

On the other hand, it is possible to see which buses go when you buy your ticket.

In the clip, two travelers talk about how it works to take the bus instead of the train - and criticize the lack of information.

In the fact box below, you can read about where and when replacement buses are deployed.
