In class 5 at Roteberg's school in Edsbyn, teacher Margareta Davidsson teaches.
She completed her teacher training in 2000 and has worked at the school in Edsbyn since 2011.
- Many have done like me.
Either studied or worked away and then moved back home, says Margareta Davidsson.
In the classroom, the students are doing different things.
Some make Christmas cards for grandma and grandpa, one student files the end of his English story and another sits and learns programming on his computer.
Watch when SVT Gävleborg visits the school and hears about the work to attract teachers in the video at the top.
At the most recent measurement for the school year 2021/2022, Ovanåker had 72 percent qualified teachers in the municipality.
It is certainly only one percentage point higher than the national average of 71 percent, but 12 percentage points higher than Ockelbo and Söderhamn, which had 60 percent teacher qualifications.
Low staff turnover
Teachers, principals and head teachers mention proximity and security within the municipality as reasons why teachers are attracted there.
- We have very low staff turnover, says headmaster Christer Andersson.
Teacher Margareta Davidsson shares the same picture.
- Not many people move from here.
Many are used to and have worked for several years in the same place.
It will also be safer for the students.
