Parcoursup 2023: what will change this year

2022-12-19T18:53:01.978Z

EXCLUSIVE – The platform for access to higher education, which opens this Tuesday, offers better information on the criteria for examining wishes.

Parcoursup, the site for access to higher education, opens this Tuesday.

A little less than a million high school students and apprentices, but also students in reorientation, can now consult the catalog of available training.

Licenses, BTS, preparation, post-baccalaureate schools... More than 21,000 programs, including 7,500 in apprenticeship, are open to them.

To meet user expectations, the platform, regularly criticized for its opacity, is acquiring new features.

The first concerns training information sheets.

These were considered “difficult to understand” by 25% of students who applied on Parcoursup in 2021-2022, according to a study by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Thus, the status of the training (public/private), its nature (selective, apprenticeship, etc.), its cost and the dates of the open days are now displayed.

Transparency objective

To enable candidates to better understand the admissions phase, elements on the attractiveness of a course and on the profile of candidates classified the previous year appear.

With a stated objective of transparency, a section “understand the criteria for analyzing applications” has been created.

A real demand from candidates.

Last year, 25% judged that the criteria for examination of wishes did not allow them to understand what was important to access training.

For one in two students, the adjective "transparent" does not apply well to the platform...

"We ask higher education players to be precise, clear and concise"

, urges Jérôme Teillard, Parcoursup project manager at Ministry of Higher Education.

This new section details the criteria on which the training is based to accept or not a file.

"It's not an algorithm that examines the applications, it's the teachers

", specifies Jérôme Teillard.

In addition, the schools offered on Parcoursup will be able to give advice on the courses to follow in high school and help to complete your file.

Integration of public schools of art and design

The development of apprenticeship training - 36% of the offer - should also continue.

Last year, 200,000 candidates confirmed a wish in these courses (+ 50% compared to 2019).

"All training can be offered as an apprenticeship, but we must guarantee their quality and improve support

," explains Jérôme Teillard.

The integration of all public art and design schools on Parcoursup, which began in 2020, is one of the major novelties.

Other announcements will take place at the beginning of 2023. They will notably concern orientation.

Last year, 25% of students said they had not been accompanied to reflect on their plans to enter higher education.

For their part, the candidates will formulate their wishes from January 18.

The files should be finalized at the beginning of April.

The main admission phase begins on June 1.
