Prime Minister Kishida met with President Sall of Senegal, the chair country of the AU this year, the African Union, and conveyed his intention to support the AU's request for G20 = membership of 20 major countries.

The AU is one of the world's largest regional organizations, with 55 African countries and regions as members, and is seeking membership in the G20.



Prime Minister Kishida held a meeting with President Sall of Senegal, who is the chair country of the AU, at the Prime Minister's Office on the 19th, when he visited Japan. I gave my thoughts.



The two leaders also exchanged views on Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and shared the view that the current situation, which is causing food and energy crises in Africa and around the world, should be ended as soon as possible.



In addition, they confirmed that they would support the development of natural resources and private investment by Japanese companies in order to strengthen bilateral relations between Japan and Senegal.



At a joint press conference after the meeting, Prime Minister Kishida said, "Japan intends to further strengthen its relationship with Africa, and believes it is important to expand Africa's presence in the G20."
