Members of the punk band Pussy Riot probably wanted to storm the square during the World Cup final.
They are said to have been arrested.
Lusail - During the final of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot attempted to storm the field.
The storming of the pitch was probably planned as a protest action during the game between Argentina and France.
As can be seen on a video available to the dpa news agency, the security forces in the stadium on Sunday in the Lusail Stadium above the Argentine bench were prevented from doing what they were doing.
Apparently, the Pussy Riot members were subsequently arrested.
In the final, Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties.
According to a statement, Pussy Riot wanted to remind the world public of the Russian war in Ukraine, the fate of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, who was imprisoned in Russia, and also draw attention to the difficult situation of women in Iran.
As
Der Spiegel
now reports, those arrested are said to be Pjotr Wersilow and Nika Nikulschina, as well as a third activist.

Pussy Riot had previously succeeded in a similar project at the finals in Qatar.
In the stands at the Iran-US meeting, Pussy Riot protested for women's rights in Iran.
They wore t-shirts with the words "Woman Life Freedom" and the logo of the Iranian football federation at Al-Thumama Stadium in Doha.
Some of them also had colorful balaclavas on their heads, as can be seen in the pictures.
In 2018, during the World Cup final in Russia, four members of Pussy Riot protested and ran onto the lawn in police uniforms.
A Moscow court sentenced her to 15 days in prison.
