Putin: Russia has no interest in "absorption" of Belarus

2022-12-19T18:17:07.258Z

Russia has no interest in "absorbing" Belarus, it is inexpedient, said Russian President Vladimir Putin. Cooperation between Moscow and Minsk lies in the coordination of economic issues.

He said this at a press conference following the talks in Belarus.

“The question is not in absorption, but in the coordination of economic policy,” he said, answering journalists' questions.

He noted that this is also happening in other integration associations.

Claims of such a "takeover" are nonsense, Putin added.

“These are attempts by our ill-wishers to slow down our integration process,” the head of state said.

As it became known earlier, during the talks in Minsk on December 19 with Vladimir Putin, the President of Belarus will primarily discuss issues of strategy, especially in the economic sphere.
