In Hamburg, the police and fire brigade had their hands full on Monday morning.
Because of the black ice, there have been over 200 road accidents and falls on mirror-smooth surfaces.
"All of our ambulances are in constant use," the fire department said.
Therefore, additional ambulances were put into service.
The aid organizations and a private rescue service provider also provided additional ambulances for emergency rescue.

On Monday morning, black ice made many roads and paths extremely slippery in large parts of Germany.

Weather: red alert due to black ice – driver dies in Lower Saxony
A driver died in an accident near Walsrode in Lower Saxony.
According to the police, the 25-year-old man was traveling on Autobahn 27 early Monday morning.
He went off the road when it was slippery, hit the guardrail and broke through it.
The car then drove into a tree.
The young driver died at the scene of the accident.
Traffic accidents were also reported from other regions.
In Mainz, the police recorded 63 traffic accidents, so far without injuries.
The fire brigade in Bonn has reported 24 surgical emergencies since Sunday evening, "which are essentially due to falls on the slippery surface".
For large parts of Germany, the DWD advises not to stay outdoors if possible and to be prepared for impairments on all traffic routes.
There is dangerous black ice from west to east.
In several regions, classes are canceled on Monday due to the black ice: Among other things, the responsible authorities in large parts of Lower Saxony canceled classes at all general and vocational schools, for example in the Hanover region and in the Osnabrück district.

Weather in Germany: Black ice causes flight cancellations at Frankfurt Airport
The black ice also disrupted the processes at Frankfurt Airport on Monday morning.

According to an airport spokeswoman, 176 of the around 1,100 take-offs and landings planned for Monday had already been canceled in the morning.

Four people were injured in a collision between two cars on a snow-covered road near Gaggenau (Rastatt district).

In the district of Warendorf in North Rhine-Westphalia, the police counted seven weather-related accidents with property damage between midnight and 3 a.m.

In Bamberg, Franconia, the thermometer dropped to minus 17.7 degrees and in the Bavarian Forest it showed minus 19 degrees, as the DWD told the dpa.
The official level two weather warning on Sunday morning dropped to level one almost everywhere in Germany by midday and afternoon.
Due to the upcoming rain in the southwest and west, a higher warning level is to be expected towards evening.
