Through his bright and astute actions, an 84-year-old made it possible for a fraudster to be arrested.

Now he has been honored for it.

Eichenau - It was around noon on November 18th when the pensioner's phone rang from Eichenau.

At the other end of the line was an alleged prosecutor who demanded a large amount of cash, according to the criminal police.

The background to this claim is the avoidance of a prison sentence for the son of the man who allegedly caused a serious traffic accident.

According to the police, the "fit pensioner" was aware of the "shock call" scam, which is why he called the police at a favorable moment.

He continued to play the worried father to the scammers.

In consultation with the police, a fake money handover then took place.

Police officers were able to arrest the picker (17).
