The National Police Agency's Special Investigation Headquarters, which is investigating the Itaewon disaster, plans to apply for arrest warrants within this week for the main suspects, including former Yongsan Police Station chief Lee Im-jae and Yongsan-gu chief Park Hee-young.

It is known that the special edition focused on reviewing the legal theory of the suspects' charges over the weekend.

On the 5th, the Special Investigation Headquarters fell into difficulties as the arrest warrants for former Yongsan Police Station head Lee Im-jae and Song Byeong-joo, former head of Yongsan Police Station, were dismissed.

Since then, we have been concentrating on reviewing legal principles to apply for collective arrest warrants for suspects from various agencies, including the police, Yongsan-gu Office, and fire authorities.

It is known that the special version will soon apply for arrest warrants for major suspects, including former chief Lee Im-jae and Yongsan-gu chief Park Hee-young.

In particular, in the case of former Chief Lee, as the arrest warrant for the charge of negligent manslaughter was dismissed once, there is a high possibility that the charge of creating false official documents will be added.

Previously, the special edition had conducted an investigation after reviewing and approving the situation report, which falsely stated that former chief Lee arrived 48 minutes earlier than the time of arrival at the site at the time of the disaster.

We are strongly considering applications for arrest warrants for Yongsan-gu Mayor Park Hee-young and Yongsan-gu Office Safety Construction and Transportation Director, who are suspected of neglecting safety management before and after the disaster.

They have also been caught destroying evidence, such as replacing cell phones with high-security models a week after the disaster.

The special edition plans to carry out reinforcement investigations while continuing to investigate references to firefighting officials, Seoul Transportation Corporation, and Seoul officials.
