Registrations for the 2023 competitions to become a school teacher have just closed and at the same time, the academy jurors commented on the results of the exams last spring.
Not very complimentary, they point out the glaring weaknesses on the part of future teachers, especially in French.
Making mistakes in French when you want to become a school teacher is disabling to say the least.
However, this is the reality pointed out by the academy jurors in reports published in early December, when registrations for the school teacher competitions for 2023 have just closed.
In their conclusions based on the results of the competitions last spring, the jurors denounce glaring weaknesses on the part of certain candidates.

Despite a bac+5 level, some future National Education civil servants still have many shortcomings in French.
Confusion between determiner and pronoun, conjugation, or even understanding... There are many mistakes.
Thus, some candidates think that the word tottering has to do with luck, while one of its synonyms is tottering.
Another example with the verb "stutter", the candidates confuse the conditional and the imperfect when they are asked the conjugation of "he will stutter".
And the drop in level of future teachers does not stop there.
Because in addition to seeing an impoverishment of the level in French, the references cited in the copies have also evolved.
Thus, Balzac, Dumas and Hugo have given way to Netflix series and other Disney or even Marvel films... It remains to be seen whether the candidates for the 2023 session of the competition will be better equipped to face the French tests.
