The Arabic language is the main carrier of our culture, identity, and heritage, so it must be preserved to be the most important factor in building bridges of communication between Arab civilization and other world civilizations, especially as it is the real and most important vessel for thought, which brings together the nation’s heritage, and absorbs the elements of its thought, culture, and development throughout the ages of history.

On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, a number of writers expressed the importance of this language and its steadfastness throughout history, despite its targeting, due to its values, civilizations and cultures that other languages are unable to contain.

The head of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Muhammad al-Hourani, said in a statement to SANA: “The Arabic language was and still is the most capable of absorbing all world cultures. It became the language of science and civilization in the late twelfth century AD, and it became the language of science for more than eight centuries before that.” European scholars to learn it and translate its scientific heritage into Latin.”

Al-Hourani added: Paying attention to the Arabic language is one of the most important priorities that we should work on educationally and in the media, especially in the time of cultural globalization and beyond, pointing out that the great challenges facing our nation, our identity and our culture must push us to pay more attention to the Arabic language and preserve it. And strengthening it, because this is a prerequisite for empowering the national identity, in addition to its supreme and splendid role in creating a stable national identity.

Dr. Osama Hammoud, the poet, described the Arabic language as the language of rhetoric, dexterity, eloquence, and beauty, pointing to the need to preserve it as it represents our identity, heritage, present, and future. He said:

The antipode is my mother

My mouth increases as it chants its magic.. as if it is above dexterity

As if the choruses of eloquence are chains.

And the critic, Dr. Ahmed Ali Muhammad, stated that the phenomenon of naming commercial stores and others in the streets in a foreign language is a painful phenomenon, especially since these designations are used in Arabic calligraphy in order to strengthen foreign languages at the expense of Arabic, and this is what we must seek to reconsider, and preserve the language Arabic.

As for the poet Dr. Jihad Bakiflouni, he explained that the Arabic language is the oldest language throughout history, and it presented different cultures and civilizations recorded over time, especially in the field of poetry, which was and still is the Arabs’ collection, and bears reflections.

Positive and negative, we must strive to preserve them because they were and will remain the most beautiful and strongest languages in the world.
