"These days I am finishing 42 years in the civil service, of which about 37 years in the uniform of the Israel Police," said Chief Beitan.
"I held a series of positions in the core of police activity. I held four superintendent positions. I established new police units and stations, led significant organizational moves, managed countless operations, and raised generations of police officers and commanders. After serving for over a generation in the organization, the time has come to hang up the uniform."
A long list of roles
Among Beitan's positions in the police over the years: Commander of the Tel Aviv District, Commander of the Southern District, Head of the Division for Logistics Planning, Commander of the College for Senior Officers, Superintendent of Lachish and Commander of the Ofakim and Ashkelon stations. Superintendent David Beitan informed the Commissioner that his retirement will take place upon completion of the round of appointments with the Minister of Internal Security and the completion of an orderly overlap with his replacement when determined.
