A building in Villefranche-d'Allier (Allier) will receive a donation of nearly 235,000 euros from the Heritage Mission for the preservation of endangered heritage by Stéphane Bern for the year 2022. The endowment will help finance the renovation of the chapel of Neuville, explains
La Montagne
.
The Pierres de Neuville association allowed this nice surprise by making public its fight for the rehabilitation of the site.
Created in 2020 by a teacher from the medical-educational institute who owns the building, the organization aims to find sponsors in order to restore the chapel.
It was built between the 12th and 14th centuries.
Today, both inside and outside, several parts of the building are degraded, in particular by vegetation.
Some are even collapsing.
The stained glass windows are damaged or missing.
Yet partly listed as a Historic Monument since 1984, the chapel has never been restored.
Despite state subsidies, the owners of the premises did not have the necessary budget for the work.
