The by-election was carried out smoothly yesterday, and the oath-taking ceremony for the elected candidates was held today so that they can participate in the work of the Parliament.

The government pointed out that the oath of a member of parliament is legally binding, and the oath taker must sincerely believe in and strictly abide by the statutory oath.

If the oath-taker makes a false oath or violates the oath after taking the oath, he shall bear legal responsibility according to law.

The government will announce whether the oath is valid after the oath ceremony.

The Legislative Council by-election this time is due to the resignation of members Zhang Guojun, Mak Meijuan, Sun Dong and Lam Zhiyuan to join the government, vacating seats.
