The head of the National Committee for Cancer Control, Dr. Arwa Al-Azma, announced that the national campaign to investigate cancer in Aleppo governorate will start early next February.
During the workshop held today in Aleppo Governorate to develop the organizational plan for the campaign, Dr. Al-Azma stressed the importance of spreading awareness among citizens through media campaigns and training workshops that precede the launch of the campaign.
In her turn, Eng. Randa Barhoum, Secretary of the National Cancer Control Committee, gave a detailed presentation on the strategic objectives of the campaign, the mechanism for implementing the early detection program for cancer, the target groups of men and women, and the coordination mechanism between government hospitals and health centers, in addition to NGOs.
For his part, Dr. Hamid Kno, a member of the Executive Office of the Aleppo Governorate Council, stressed the importance of participatory work between government agencies and NGOs, for the success of the campaign, whether through awareness campaigns or executive work.
The workshop was attended by a member of the National Committee for Cancer Control, Dr. Lina Asaad, Director of Aleppo Health Directorate Dr. Ziyad Haj Taha, Director of Social Affairs and Labor Ahmed Hamza, President of the Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Safwan Zaiter, and directors of government hospitals and NGOs in Aleppo.
