Iranian state television announced on Sunday that the intelligence service had stopped a spy network that was planning to carry out sabotage operations against Iranian defense industries.
And the Iranian Tasnim agency reported that the security forces managed in a "complex intelligence operation" to arrest members of the spy cell of the Israeli Mossad.
It added that the cell was planning to carry out "sabotage acts in Iran's defense industries through the establishment of fake companies and security marketing."
For its part, the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) confirmed that "the Ministry of Security took the initiative to arrest local agents who were in the process of striking sensitive military sites."
In early December, Reuters quoted Fars News Agency as saying that the Iranian authorities executed 4 individuals who were convicted of cooperating with the Israeli intelligence (Mossad).
And last July, the Iranian police said that they had arrested a spy network working for the Israeli intelligence service, which was planning operations it described as armed and sabotage.
Iran and Israel have been locked in a long-standing conflict over several issues, including Iran's nuclear program and Tehran's regional influence, and Tehran accuses Tel Aviv of assassinating a number of its officials and scientists.
