Fear of the expansion of Russia's war in Eastern Europe: The head of Moldova's intelligence and security services, Alexandru Mostica, claimed today (Monday) that he believes that Russia will invade his country during the year 2023, but this depends on the results of the war in Ukraine.
"The question is not whether Russia will launch an attack in the direction of Moldova, but when it will happen, whether in January of 2023 or perhaps in the spring months," the Moldovan official told the local news network TVR.
"According to the information we have, Russia may try to break through a corridor through the territory of Ukraine to Transnistria, which is Moldovan territory. We can definitely state that yes, they intend to come here and create a land corridor to Transnistria. And what will happen after that? We can discuss their intentions regarding Chisinau , but the risk for us is very real," Mostica added.
These things come after yesterday Ukrainian experts estimated that Russia might try and attack again in the direction of Kyiv, with the aim of driving a wedge that would split Ukraine in two, from Kiev towards Transistria in the south, thus trying to bring about the subjugation of Ukraine.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko,
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, arrived this morning for a visit to Belarus, where he met with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
The two discussed the war in Ukraine and Belarus' part in helping the Russian invasion of the country.
Lukashenko allowed the Russian army to operate unimpeded from the territory of Belarus and now there is a growing fear that the Belarusian army will join a new Russian attack in the direction of the Ukrainian capital in the winter or spring months.
