The Blues lost Sunday in the World Cup final against Argentina, but there are still role models.

Kylian Mbappé, Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann and so many others… What do they embody for French youth?

What do these players represent for young French teenagers?

Europe 1 went to meet them.

The Blues may not have won the World Cup, but their image is not tarnished in the hearts of the French, especially among young people who idolize them.

Kylian Mbappé, Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann… This generation of footballers has marked many children and teenagers, for whom the life paths of these athletes are real models to follow.

Griezmann taught us that you have to get out of your comfort zone to get there

For Paul-Alexis, 15, the model to follow is Antoine Griezmann.

A player on whom few professionals bet when he was a child.

"He couldn't join the training clubs he wanted because he was too small in size," he says.

"That's why he was accepted at Real Sociedad, he had to go to Spain," continues Paul-Alexis.

"So I tell myself that I can have a lot of physical disadvantages, it doesn't matter, we can still get there!", He rejoices.

"But you have to get out of your comfort zone."

"Hugo Lloris inspires me to keep my self-confidence"

Auguste, also 15, admires Hugo Lloris.

This high school student is a goalkeeper in a football club, and the captain of the Blues has a lot to do with it, he explains.

"He's the captain and that's one of the most important roles," he said.

"He is the one who must manage the team, ensure that it remains united", adds Auguste.

"When you know how to talk to players on the pitch, it gives you a certain confidence, as well as a certain assurance... So in everyday life, Hugo Lloris inspires me to be like that."

"Mbappé is to believe in yourself, to believe in your dreams"

But among young football fans, the most cited name remains that of Kylian Mbappé.

Laouenan, 14, has eyes that shine when he analyzes what the Paris Saint-Germain striker means to him.

"He comes from Bondy, we know that there was hard work behind him, during his childhood, to reach this level," he notes.

"And I think talent doesn't exist, it's all about hard work," adds Laouenan.

"So Mbappé, for me, is to believe in yourself, to believe in your dreams, and to tell yourself that anything is possible if you give yourself the means" he summarizes.

All these teenagers recognize that the influence of these athletes goes far beyond the framework of matches.
