Huge disappointment on the side of the Blues after their defeat in the World Cup final against Argentina, despite a masterful match.

Since the end of the match, the players have been inconsolable but decisions should be taken soon, in particular with regard to the future of Didier Deschamps as coach of the France team.

The hangover.

This sums up our state of mind this Monday morning after the France-Argentina World Cup final, won by Lionel Messi and his teammates after a penalty shootout and a match that will remain engraved in all memories.

Kylian Mbappé's masterful hat-trick was not enough to win the Blues.

The disappointment is immense in the French camp.

2022 World Cup: the press celebrates the "amazing" Messi, consoles the "incredible" Mbappé

"It's a group that has a lot of heart, resources"

The Blues didn't wait for Lionel Messi to lift the World Cup.

The French, dejected, returned with their heads down, looking at their feet in the locker room.

But the Blues are inconsolable.

The 2018 world champion, Raphaël Varane, is nevertheless very complimentary towards his teammates.

"We are obviously very sad tonight, but also very proud because we were at the end of ourselves, even on a day when we were less well like today. We came back, we came back into the game , we pushed, we could even have won it when for an hour, we weren't in it at all. It's a group that has a lot of heart, resources. We had a lot of obstacles throughout the competition and we were at the end of ourselves. So here it is, it's football, we lose tonight but we can be proud of what we have done", underlined the defender.

Behind the cruelty of the result, there are decisions to be made, in particular the future of his coach.

Didier Deschamps did not want to answer the question clearly, but he explained that he was going to meet Noël Le Graët soon.

The 54-year-old Blues boss revealed a smile.

Deschamps may want to continue the adventure until Euro 2024, he who has never won this competition as a coach.

We will know at the beginning of next year.
