Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed the need for the United States of America to show readiness and political will to negotiate in a fair manner with Russia, in order to achieve the minimum progress in the field of communication between the two sides.
“Russia does not refuse to communicate with the United States at various levels, but to achieve at least the minimum level of progress, there must be a response from the other side, which requires political will, open thinking, and a willingness to negotiate in a fair manner,” Novosti agency quoted Zakharova as saying today. Pointing out that Moscow is interested in reducing tensions, and wants to agree on the principles of peaceful coexistence on the basis of reciprocity.
Zakharova renewed the call of US President Joe Biden's administration not to escalate the spiral of tension, expressing her hope that this Russian call would receive the required resonance, despite the lack of reasons for optimism so far.
On the other hand, Zakharova considered that Jordan's decision to impose restrictions on Russian airlines' use of its airspace is not politicized or directed against Russia's interests, pointing out that the Jordanian aviation authorities imposed these restrictions under pressure from the European Commission.
She explained that the Federal Air Transport Agency and the Russian Foreign Ministry are making all active efforts to solve this problem.
Zakharova stressed that Russian civil aircraft have all the necessary documents for transit flights through Jordanian airspace, including insurance documents issued in accordance with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
