Wellington, SANA- An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale rocked New Zealand's Kermadec Islands in the southern ocean today.

Today, a 6-magnitude earthquake struck the New Zealand Kermadec Islands in the South Pacific Ocean, without reports of injuries or material damage.

Reuters reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 141 km, 527 km northeast of Tauranga, New Zealand.

New Zealand is located in a seismically active region in the Pacific Ocean known as the Ring of Fire.
