The Remiremont hospital (Vosges) is the subject of four complaints, three for manslaughter and one for endangering the lives of others, after the death of three patients, we learned Tuesday, December 20 from the prosecution. d'Épinal and the plaintiffs' lawyer.
Three patients aged 59, 67 and 78 died two years apart, between July 2020 and July 2022.
Two of them had entered the hospital for a fractured femur and had been taken care of by “
the same surgeon and the same anesthesiologist
”, one in July 2020, the other two years later, specified Me Nancy Risacher, joined by AFP.
However, for one of them, “
the operation went well
” and she had to “
go to a rehabilitation center
” on the day of her death, July 29, according to the lawyer.

"
We do not know the exact causes of death, we are told the consequences
", namely a "
multi-visceral failure
", according to Me Risacher, who wants the "
truth
" to emerge "
through complaints
" because "
we do not not die of a fractured femur
".
For the council, the two women died in the “
same nebulous circumstances
”.
Judicial information opened
The third patient had been brought to the emergency room in May 2022 and had died “
a few days after acute pancreatitis
”, added Me Risacher.
The Epinal prosecution has opened a judicial investigation "
against X for manslaughter
", indicated the public prosecutor, Frédéric Nahon.
The management of the hospital, "
sorry about the situation
", took advantage of "
support according to the rules of the art
": "
we have an experienced surgical team
", declared the director, Dominique Cheveau .
According to him, these complaints will make it possible to shed light on the facts: “
we only ask to understand what happened
”, he added.
The fourth complainant, a 46-year-old man, went to hospital last October after a fall, where medical staff failed to detect ten broken ribs.
“
It could have been serious, hitting the lung, the spleen, because he had difficulty breathing
,” criticizes Me Risacher.
His client, "
not cozy
" and with the "
patience of an angel
", had ended up after several weeks of pain by going for an X-ray in an imaging center in Nancy: "
there, they saw the broken ribs, without appeal
".
The Regional Health Agency (ARS) Grand Est affirms for its part that “
the subject is under investigation
”.
