After the arson in the Tölz bank branches, the Sparkasse now needs a new fire protection curtain.

But there are currently delivery problems.

Bad Tölz –

It should be a few weeks before the Sparkasse can reopen its self-service branch on Tölzer Marktstraße.

This emerges from a press release from the financial institution.

An agreement was made with the Raiffeisenbank so that their customers in the city center have an alternative to withdrawing money by then.

As reported, a 56-year-old Tölzer had set fire to the self-service branch of the Sparkasse a week ago and shortly afterwards to another bank in the immediate vicinity.

The police arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.

100,000 euros damage after fire

The property damage at the Sparkasse is around 100,000 euros, says press spokesman Thomas Bundschuh.

"Both ATMs are broken and out of service," he explains.

“The two bank statement printers in the branch, on the other hand, are still functional and accessible.

Bundschuh quotes board member Christian Spindler in his statement: "The ATMs in our self-service branch will be fully available to our customers again as soon as possible.

We are currently working flat out on a quick solution.”

One problem with this: According to Bundschuh, the foyer damaged by the fire is also an escape route from the stairwell of the building at Marktstraße 34. "Therefore, reopening is only possible if fire protection regulations are observed," said the Sparkasse spokesman.

However, this requires a new fire protection curtain.

The previous one served well during the fire on the night of December 13: it effectively prevented the flames and smoke from spreading, but was damaged in the process and must now be replaced.

Due to current delivery difficulties, according to Bundschuh, this is not going to work as quickly as desired.

It will probably take "several weeks" for a new fire protection curtain to arrive.

Interim solution: Savings bank customers can withdraw money free of charge from Raiffeisenbank on the Kapellengasteig

Until then, the Sparkasse has reached a transitional agreement with the Raiffeisenbank in the Oberland: Savings bank customers can now also withdraw up to 1,000 euros a day free of charge from the nearby Raiffeisenbank ATM at Kapellengasteig 2.

Bundschuh said it was only 200 meters away.
