US President Joe Biden said the 2015 Iran nuclear deal was "dead" but stressed that the US would not officially announce it.
Biden said these things in a chance conversation with an American citizen who demonstrated against the Iranian regime during an election conference held in California on November 4.
A video of the short conversation was published on social networks only today - a month and a half later.

why is it important?
President Biden's words were in fact a confirmation of the unofficial American policy on the Iranian issue.
Senior administration officials said these things in recent months in conversations with US allies as well as in background briefings neither to quote nor to attribute to reporters.
What they say:
"It (the nuclear deal) is dead, but we won't announce it. It's a long story. I know the Iranian regime doesn't represent you (the citizens of Iran), but they might have nuclear weapons," Biden told the protester.
A spokeswoman for the National Security Council at the White House said to Walla!
In response to the fact that the nuclear deal with Iran is not the focus of the Biden administration now.
"It's not on our agenda," she said.
"We don't see an agreement in the near future. Iran is killing its young citizens and selling unmanned aerial vehicles to Russia to kill Ukrainian citizens. We are working on practical ways to stop Iran."
The senior official in the White House added that the Biden administration will work to curb Iranian subversion in the Middle East, protect American soldiers including through military force when necessary, and support the Iranian people and their demand for basic rights.
"We will continue to take actions to exact a price from those who use violence against protesters and try to suppress their rights. Our diplomatic efforts have resulted in more countries joining us, condemning the Iranian regime and opposing its actions," she said.
