Sub-zero temperatures, frost and black ice on the streets – it has recently been really wintry in Bavaria.
The BRK has now issued notices.
Also for emergencies.
Munich - Bavaria freezes - and slides.
In the last few days it has been cold and wintry in Freistaat, and the streets are slippery as glass.
It was already freezing cold in many parts of the Free State at the weekend, and there were numerous accidents due to slippery roads - the zoo in Nuremberg even had to remain closed.
And on Tuesday, December 20th, there were again black ice warnings in Bavaria, and face-to-face classes were canceled in many places.
The Bavarian Red Cross took all of this as an opportunity to provide important information and tips on how to deal with the winter cold.

Temperatures in the double-digit minus range were no exception in Bavaria in the last few nights.
The BRK therefore advises Tamara Götz, first aid trainer at the BRK district association in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, to dress warmly.
Winter boots instead of trainers and sneakers, winter jackets, hats and gloves are now part of everyday life.
You shouldn't categorically refrain from warm undershirts at the moment, so as not to freeze.

Götz also has an important tip for drivers: in addition to the thermos flask with tea, which must be part of the standard provisions for longer journeys, there should be a warm blanket in the vehicle for every journey – whether long or short.
Either to be able to warm yourself in the event of a traffic jam, or to be able to give some warmth to people who have had an accident as a first aid measure in an emergency.
Particularly warm woolen blankets are ideal for this.

Götz has other tips on the subject of hypothermia – be it after an accident on the road or in everyday life in general.
Because those affected are dependent on help, especially if they are severely hypothermic.
You can recognize them by their trembling and blue lips, sometimes the victims can no longer be spoken to.
If a person is severely hypothermic, they must be warmed up as quickly as possible - with a woolen blanket or clothes.
As far as possible, Götz also recommends bringing the affected person into a warm place.

However, the trainer urgently warns of one measure: rubbing cold parts of the body warm is an absolute no-go.
Because: The body centralizes the warm blood in the middle of the body to protect the important organs.
If you now rub the ice-cold feet or hands of a hypothermic person, the cold blood can be transported to the heart and cause shock.
