Landsberg – The gymnasium of the elementary school in Katharinenvorstadt has recently been closed.
Outsourcing the sports offers is proving to be difficult.
And whether an unpleasant surprise awaits the city during the renovation of the hall is an open question.
Given the city's tense financial situation, there was no need for that: a fresh crack was discovered in the roof structure of the Katharinen gymnasium at the end of November.
The problem behind this is unclear.
A structural engineer was commissioned to check the roof structure.
The results are not yet available, but it is certain that a renovation will be necessary.
Until then, emergency measures had been taken, reported Meike Bucko, head of the municipal building construction department, in the finance committee.
"I can't yet say which renovation measures will be necessary." The one million euros that were set aside for this in the city budget for 2023 are "only an estimate".
According to the head of the regulatory office, Ernst Müller, it is difficult to outsource the sports offers to other halls in the meantime.
"There are talks with other clubs, but basically all the halls are jam-packed." After all, the opening hours of the Isidor-Hipper-Halle could be extended.
This is not possible in the sports center due to staff overload.
