The Forestry Department in the Homs Agriculture Directorate carried out an afforestation campaign in the Martyrs' Cemetery in Al-Zahraa neighborhood, which included planting 1,000 forest saplings.
The head of the department, Eng. Amer Shaaban, explained in a statement to SANA that saplings of laurel, cypress, logstrom, carob and azdrecht were planted, indicating that the afforestation campaign in the martyrs' cemetery comes in appreciation of the sacrifices of the nation's martyrs and in commemoration of their memory.
He pointed out that to date, about 13,000 forest seedlings have been sold since the start of sales for the current season, pointing out that the department also distributes 5 forest seedlings for free to each rural family.
The Homs Agriculture Directorate had carried out two afforestation campaigns in the two sites of al-Shumaria and Asilat al-Harajiyin within the framework of the current season's plan, which includes planting 112 hectares with 60,000 forest saplings in 7 locations.
