Al-Hasakah - SANA
The area cultivated with wheat and barley crops in Al-Hasakah governorate has reached 588 thousand hectares to date, out of the planned area of one million hectares for the current season.
The cultivated area was distributed, according to the head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Jalal Bilal, to 106,800 hectares of irrigated wheat, with an implementation rate of 37 percent, 235,500 hectares of rainfed wheat, with an implementation rate of 55.5 percent, 18,400 hectares of irrigated barley, with an implementation rate of 65 percent, and 227,600 rainfed barley, with an implementation rate of 83 percent.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Bilal pointed out that the farmers continue to cultivate their lands with the strategic crops, rainfed and irrigated, in various areas of agricultural stability in the governorate, in implementation of the agricultural sub-plan during the first half of this month, which will increase the implementation rates.
