The areas cultivated with wheat and barley crops in As-Suwayda governorate, since the beginning of the current season until now, have reached 6323 hectares.

The Assistant Director of Agriculture in As-Suwayda, Eng. Alaa Shuhaib, explained in a statement to SANA reporter today that the areas cultivated with rain-fed wheat amounted to 2031 hectares, with an implementation rate of 6 percent, and irrigated wheat 144 hectares, with a rate of 24 percent implementation, while the areas cultivated with barley, all of which are rain-fed, amounted to 4,148 hectares, with an implementation rate of 19 percent. .

Shuhaib pointed out that the delay in implementation rates so far is due to the relatively late rainfall, which encourages farmers to cultivate operations, expecting a gradual improvement in the reality of cultivated areas in the coming period, especially with the continuation of cultivation operations for the two crops.

Shuhaib pointed out that the Directorate of Agriculture gradually provides fuel for agricultural operations, according to the available quantities out of the quantities that come to the governorate.

The plan for wheat cultivation in As-Suwayda for the current season is 35,038 hectares for rain-fed and 587 hectares for irrigated, while the barley cultivation plan is 21,384 hectares.
