Defend and rebuild Ukraine

2022-12-20T11:12:13.084Z

The absence of any hint of a ceasefire forces the reconstruction plans of the attacked country to be accelerated

Ukraine needs the best efforts of its allies to defeat Putin, but don't wait for the war to end.

Reconstruction can and must begin to reverse the destruction caused by Russian drones and missiles.

Two international conferences convened by France have been organized for this task.

In the first, with government representatives, international aid to the Ukrainian population began to be organized to face the harshness of a winter under bombs.

In the second, a large group of companies decided to prepare investments in the country for when the war ends.

The capital, kyiv, has suffered in recent days the worst air attack since the war began.

Resisting the persistent Russian air offensive through the winter and, above all, preventing the systematic destruction of the country from progressing, is the main task of Zelensky, who has welcomed the imminent arrival of the efficient Patriot batteries from the United States with relief.

Until spring everything will be played out in the skies of Ukraine between the Ukrainian defense capacity and the Russian attack capacity, although on the ground there are two sources of intense fighting, one on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River, where the Ukrainian counteroffensive continues, and another in Bakhmut, in Donbas, where Russian troops are trying to score a victory that is more symbolic than significant to make up for their failures.

By the end of the cold season, the Ukrainian military authorities are already planning a new Russian land offensive, for which 200,000 fresh soldiers are being trained with which Moscow will again attempt the assault on kyiv, perhaps from Belarusian territory, and yesterday Putin visited its president Aleksandr Lukashenko.

It is difficult to elucidate the consistency of such a forecast, given the strategic nature of information in times of war, but it denotes on both sides the scant attention paid to the demand for negotiation and a ceasefire on the part of numerous countries and institutions. international.

As in any war, the determining factor will be the positions occupied by each other's troops at the precise moment in which the two parties agree on the need for a ceasefire, which may coincide with the end of winter.
