Explosion at a gas pipeline in Russia – probably three dead

Another incident in a natural gas pipeline: According to an agency report, there is a major fire in Russia.

Chuvashia - An explosion is said to have occurred at the gas pipeline in the Russian city of Kazan.

The pipeline carries gas from Russia to Europe via Ukraine.

This is reported by the Russian state news agency Ria Novosti.

The cause is still unclear.

"It was scarier than in the video.

In the village of Yambakhtino it was impossible to go to the windows - everything was hot," Ria Novosti quoted a witness to the explosion as saying.

The Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhhorod natural gas pipeline is one of Russia's most important natural gas export pipelines.
