Gymnasium Schliersee: The joint venture is taking shape

Welcome to the new home: a good 100 visitors were interested in the status of work on the Tunhallen construction site in Neuhaus.

The gymnasium currently under construction in Neuhaus is a project of the century for Schliersee.

It took decades before construction could begin, and many people helped with the financing.

Neuhaus – The big names in Schliersee come from winter sports – such as Wasmeier, Schlickenrieder and Hinz – but a community with 7000 inhabitants so completely without a reasonable gym: This thorn was and is deep in the flesh of every sports enthusiast from Schliersee.

Since this year, the double gymnasium has finally been under construction, and now the public could get an idea of ​​whether the work will be successful at an "Open Construction Site Day".

So far, the building has received approval

The answer is yes, at least from the point of view of TSV chairman Wolfgang Schauer.

The sports club and the municipality, which needs a school gymnasium, form a building community, and the reactions that Schauer has received so far have been positive: the building is really big on the inside, but from the outside it is anything but an unsightly block, it fits rather good on the school grounds.

Work is on target

The construction work, reports Schauer, is on schedule and the cooperation with the municipality, the architects and the construction companies involved is good.

The roof, for example, was finished within four weeks.

"We are absolutely on target," says the TSV chairman.

There was no topping-out ceremony on a larger scale, but instead there were invitations to the "Open Construction Site Day", where the 100 or so visitors were well advised to dress warmly due to the lack of heat.

The frost probably prevented a higher number of guests.

No further tragedy: Sometime in the spring another such date should follow.

Financing of the TSV share spread over many shoulders

Then there will be more to see from the joint venture, which is scheduled to go live in September.

Joint work because many hands have been and are involved in the financing over many years.

People directly involved in the construction such as Klaus Leitner and Adi Merle, for example, who bring in the ideas of the TSV in an advisory capacity, or architect Heinz Blees, who planned the hall before the tendering phase and who continues to take part in the construction site meetings whenever possible.

All of them are volunteers, by the way.

The same applies to the support association, which according to Schauer collected around 70,000 euros over many years, or many athletes who help with paper collection or at the recycling center, at the ice rink or Turnerbad and thus provide income for TSV.

Thanks to all these activities and a few major donors, the association was able to contribute the required 350,000 euros to finance the hall.

This means that 600,000 euros can also come from the Bavarian State Sports Association.

As reported, the total costs for the project have risen to over eleven million euros, also due to the long delay caused by pending court proceedings.

For many of the approximately 1,600 TSV members, vagrant through halls in Hausham or Miesbach will come to an end next year.

In particular, gymnasts and handball players, both disciplines with some tradition, are finally getting a suitable home.
