The market council factions of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen and the citizens' association call for a "comprehensive municipal heating strategy" for Peißenberg in a joint application, with the focus not only on climate protection in view of rising energy costs.

Peißenberg - The intergroup cooperation between the Greens and the citizens' association in the market council is known (BV) to be extremely intensive - especially in the area of "climate and environmental protection".

This category also includes the “comprehensive municipal heating strategy” requested in a joint application, which is to be drawn up on the basis of the available studies and data.

"The calculation of the carbon footprint for Peißenberg has shown many sources of emissions," explain the Green Party and BV in the justification for the application.

One of the biggest sources of CO2 is the heating sector.

Effective strategies are needed to reduce the corresponding footprint and ensure independence from fossil fuels.

But as Matthias Reichhart (BV) explicitly explained in the most recent market council meeting,

In terms of content, there was no contradiction in the Market Council to the application submitted - but there were with regard to the timetable for a possible implementation.

Mayor Frank Zellner (CSU) suggested creating the heating strategy as part of the development process for the municipal climate protection concept.

As already reported, the concept work is one of the main tasks of the recently hired climate protection manager, Matthias Tengler.

However, the market council did not want to go along the route envisaged by Zellner.

"I don't agree with that," countered Matthias Reichhart, among others.

The development of a climate protection concept would take another year and a half - and then the heat strategy would also have to be backed up with concrete measures.

"Then we're at two and a half years," Reichhart complained: "I don't think

Walter Wurzinger (Free Voters, "We not only need a heat strategy, but also an electricity strategy. We have to act now and do something for the citizens") and Manuela Vanni (Peißenberger List) took the same line: "It is a task of the Municipality to ensure that the basic supply of electricity and heat remains affordable for everyone," said the former mayor.

With the municipal utilities and the energy cooperative, there are actors in Peißenberg with whom one can cooperate.

"Even after the Ukraine war, energy costs will not get much cheaper," Vanni speculated.

However, Zellner initially stuck to his position.

The town hall administration, so he argued, currently does not have the human resources to develop a heating strategy and implement measures.

Otherwise the priority list would have to be changed.

"Every 'priority up' is not possible when it comes to staffing," explained Zellner.

But he also received opposition for this – for example from Sandra Rößle (CSU/non-party).

Linking the heating strategy to the climate concept would take too long: "Then we'll just have to get external help.

We have to press ahead with the issue and not put it off for two and a half years.” Matthias Reichhart delved deeper into the issue of “priority setting”.

In view of rising prices, the energy supply is currently "priority number 1", at least for the citizens.

Ultimately, the application was referred unanimously to the Energy and Climate Committee for further discussion.
