Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed the country's counterintelligence services to show maximum vigilance, so that they can quickly detect spies and traitors and protect Russian security.
“The counterintelligence services are required to exercise maximum concentration and mobilize force, including military ones, to forcefully confront foreign intelligence activities, and to quickly detect traitors, spies and saboteurs,” Putin said, according to Novosti news agency.
Putin stressed the importance of strengthening the efforts of the Federal Security Service to protect Russia's borders and said: "The country's borders are the most important line to ensure state security, and they must be continuously protected and any attempts to breach them quickly and effectively cut off, using all available energies and means, including rapid reaction forces and special missions."
