Abu Hamid is considered to be the right-hand man of the Secretary General of the Tanzim in the West Bank, Marwan Barghouti. He was accused of 13 terrorist incidents, including involvement in the murder of Binyamin Ze'ev Kahana and his wife, in the planting of an explosive device in the "Bianchini" cafe in Jerusalem, in the murder of Gad Rajwan, a resident of the city, and involvement in the terrorist attack at the Sea Food Market restaurant in Tel Aviv.
