The magistrate denounced the defendant's behavior as extremely stupid, and pointed out that if he failed the examination card, he could retake the examination. The case was postponed to January 3 for sentencing, pending the request for a community service order report for the defendant. During this period, the defendant was released on bail.
Defendant Lai Changming (60 years old), accused of providing Hong Kong dollars 2,000 to a public official, namely Tse Ka-wai Isuzu, Second Level Examination Officer of the Transport Department, in Hong Kong on July 9, 2022, without legal authority or reasonable excuse, as a thank you Lai was paid for passing the driving test at the Yau Tong Driving Test Centre.

However, the examination officer refused to accept the bribe and reported the incident to the Transport Department after the driving test.
The ICAC arrested the defendant after receiving a corruption complaint referred by the Transport Department.
