Will the once heavily disputed commercial area in Taglaching be expanded?

That's what opposition circles in Bruck fear.

Bruck

– The opposition in the municipality of Bruck is growing fear of a whopping maneuver by Mayor Josef Schwäbl (CSU).

Recently, he had repeatedly flirted with a renewed expansion of the commercial area in Taglaching.

This has been controversial since planning began in 2013, was opposed by conservationists, waved through a referendum with 64 percent and finally reduced in size by the government of Upper Bavaria.

Now the voter group "Offene Politik in Bruck" has turned to the mayor with a list of questions.

With Angela Felzmann-Gaibinger and Andrea Liebl, she provides two municipal councillors.

The bottom line is that their questions, also published on this website, express a concern: the commercial area could subsequently grow to the originally planned size.

Commercial area Taglaching: Once only three hectares could be approved

At that time, the argument was that you couldn't connect a larger commercial area to a smaller one - the existing concrete plant.

That's why the new Taglachinger area melted from (too large) four to (approved) three hectares.

Only: If the hectare that was cut off in 2015 were to be developed for companies today, it would only be the (small) extension of the (large) commercial area that now exists.

The result: exactly the four-hectare area from the initial planning.

So if it could now be approved, Brucker would have just sat it out.

On the phone to EZ, he denied that Schwäbl now wants to take an offensive approach to this expansion.

The discussion hasn't got that far, and the municipal council has to decide something like that.

The issue has not yet been officially discussed there.

Mayor Josef Schwäbl is looking for money

Rather, he is looking for ways to generate income for the community, Schwäbl continues.

"In five years we have to have something behind us." With the new fire station and building yard, Bruck is planning a million-dollar project on the green field.

The main town is also to get a new fire station.

According to his own statements, Schwäbl can only think of two new sources of money at the moment: the sale of land for residential development or the expansion of the commercial area in Taglaching.

And he doesn't know where residential properties should currently be identified.

Also, the trade tax revenue from the companies starting in Taglaching would not be sufficient over the coming years.

"That has never worked in any district municipality," argues Schwäbl without naming any figures.

"I expect spending to increase everywhere."

Mayor announces policy decision for 2023

He also indicates to EZ what will happen next: the municipal councils are currently being asked to come up with ways to earn money.

“You have to think about it carefully,” says the mayor.

A decision in principle should be made in 2023.

When the decision was made in favor of Taglaching-Süd, the initiative for the preservation of the Taglaching valley criticized that the public had not heard enough about the deliberations in the municipal council.

Before the day of the decisive public session, there was a non-public session - and no further discussion in the presence of an audience.

"There is no longer any opposition in the municipal council," complained Manfred Gaibinger, an opponent of the commercial zone, at the time.

There are currently four lists represented there.

Schwäbl defends his actions and repeats that the discussion is only just beginning.

And cites the referendum of 2015, which gave him a clear mandate for the Taglaching-Süd project with 64 percent yes votes.
